Description
The lighthouse at St. Simons Island was rebuilt in 1872 after the first one (1810) was destroyed by Confederate troops in 1862 to prevent Federal troops from using the beacon. The lighthouse keeper dwelling is Victorian design in red brick. There have been many photographs taken of this landmark from all different angles. This print offers a mystical angle of the 129 step lighthouse towering over the keeper's house. Visitors to this lighthouse can climb the steps to the top to enjoy the expansive view of the surrounding areas. See more in my coastal Collection in progress. C 2016 Jan Gelders Photography.
